A Love Story at the Mill at Fine Creek
Over the last year, I’ve been selective with the weddings we take on for Shaina Koren Cinematography. We’ve had to sacrifice certain things in order to make a conscious shift, as emerging artists in the documentary and film market. The process of releasing our self-produced feature length documentary The Rebound has been demanding, of our time and energy. It’s been well worth it, knowing we have the ability to make a positive impact through our creative work.
As creative people and business owners, we strongly believe that in order to love the life we have chosen for ourselves – our work should have purpose and fulfillment.
The wedding market has become more competitive from all angles. Much gets lost in the stress of the planning, the slight imperfections of real weddings. Each detail you spent so much time making sure would be perfect, the list goes on. As I encourage people all the time, it’s important to step back and remember what truly matters. Your story, and your commitment to each other.
It takes a lot of creative energy to capture the emotions of a constantly moving wedding day, and then translate that to an seamless wedding film for our couples. That’s why we’ve decided to focus on dedicating more energy to fewer people, and projects, in the future.
We’ve held back on admitting it for a while, that we’re shifting focus in our careers. Michael and I are following our passions. Then, translating our experience as documentary filmmakers, over to our commercial, promotional work and our wedding work.
To do that, we make sure there’s a good fit between us and the client, some alignment. The trust they put in us to do our best work every time, so they can focus on the reasons why they’re getting married in the first place.
Getting on to the point of this, JEN and GINO! From the moment we met them, I knew we’d get along. They remind us of why we started filming weddings in the first place – storytelling inspired by love.
They joined us for the Brooklyn Film Festival premiere of The Rebound, then we met for dinner the next night in Manhattan, followed by a long walk up, down, and around Strand Bookstore – one of Jen’s faves!
Their love is strong, quirky, and completely adorable. I could tell that these two light up the lives of everyone who knows them and I know their story will light up your day today!
