Meet Our Team
Shaina Koren - Cinematographer | Creative Director
I'm a cinematographer, filmmaker, editor and director - but primarily a daughter, sister, and friend. I approach every project by first looking into the heart of the story, then I apply a unique creative process first to planning, then capturing and telling that story through motion pictures.
I believe that the most powerful thing is the world is a story that creates an emotional connection. This is what I knew I wanted to do as long as I can remember and I am so grateful that I am able to live my passion and tell beautiful stories that make an impact.
I love travelling, watching films, and our husky baby!
Let's get to know each other. xo
Mike Esposito - Cinematographer | Project Manager
I'm a cinematographer and content specialist with a background in digital marketing. I bring passion, creativity and strategy into every project - both behind the scenes and behind the camera. After working for tech startups and major media brands, it was a passion for storytelling and connecting deeply with audiences that led me to follow my entrepreneurial spirit. I add pure hustle to passion, mix in a love for creating authentic content and deliver a powerful punch as the perfect complement to the creative direction of (the one and only) Shaina Koren.
I'm a graduate of James Madison University's College of Business (Go Dukes!), a fan of all things Philadelphia, and an outdoor adventure enthusiast.
"I know we all can't stay here forever, so I want to write my words on the face of today, and then they'll paint it"
#KeikoTheHusky - Inspiration | Bookkeeping
Keiko is a husky - a BIG husky. He's a working dog that just loves to be part of the pack. This furry guy charmed his way into Mike's life in mid-2009 and has been a faithful sidekick ever since. He adds joy to the lives of nearly everyone who he comes across - unless you're a squirrel or rabbit! (Sorry, Roger)
When not bookkeeping and manning the phone lines at the Shaina Koren Cinematography office, you might find Keiko digging holes, cross-country skiing, or finishing off a jar of peanut butter (see the video below).
Keiko hails from the Shenandoah Valley in Central, VA but enjoys traveling. Road trips are his favorite.
(A teeny, tiny, tidbit of ‘Our Story’)
We attended James Madison University at the same time, but we didn’t meet in a class, the dining hall, or even tailgating for a big game. In fact, we didn’t even meet at college. We were independent souls nearing the end of our college careers. While most of our peers were attending job fairs seeking the “right” entry level job – we decided a summer study abroad program was just the right thing to satisfy our thirst for travel and perspective.
The first time we met was at Dulles Int’l Airport on our way to the Philippines for a 6-week long cultural submersion into the Pacific Ring of Fire. While halfway around the world hiking 2,000 year-old rice terraces, trekking into a volcano, rocking at karaoke and learning to scuba we discovered in each other a shared love for travel, movies, and making a positive impact on the world.
We are entrepreneurs and filmmakers, passionate about telling stories that connect people, places and perspectives. We’ve worked for startups and big media brands and specialize in making people laugh, cry, and open their eyes.
After realizing that desk jobs and weren’t the right fit, we decided to take a leap of faith and start our own production company, embark on a 4-year journey to make a wheelchair basketball documentary, and combine our creative media and marketing skills to do our part to change the world for the better.
We are huge dog lovers, and our third partner is a rescued husky named Keiko. He fills in as our office manager when we’re on location filming. Search #keikothehusky on Twitter and Instagram.
Our current passion project: a documentary on wheelchair basketball.
